Our two main cooking methods will be
1. Galley : induction hob and air fryer (no more gas)
2. Barbeque
We have had to refit / replace the galley completely, and one important change will be no more gas. We have a generator as well as solar power, batteries and inverter for power. We will also be spending a lot of time marinas, ports and harbours and with that comes the opportunity for shore power.
For an oven we have settled on the Ninja Foodi air-fryer. It has two baskets instead of the one and these can sync or cook independently.
We also have a single zone induction hob for anything that cannot go into the air fryer. Naturally our biggest concern is the power these two appliances will draw. As we are motorboat, we cannot risk running the batteries down! Nor do we want to run the generator all the time.
To prepare for on-board cooking I practiced a lot at home before we install the appliances on the boat. Using a power meter, I have been able to record the power used for some of the meals we really enjoy and the ones we are likely to cook on the boat.
