Ninja Foodi 2-Basket Air Fryer

No more gas …..

We have had to refit / replace the galley completely, and one important change will be no more gas. We have a generator as well as solar power, batteries and inverter for power. We will aslo be spending a lot of time marinas, ports and harbours and with that comes the opportunity for shore power.

So after some research we have settled on this Ninja Foodi air-fryer. It has two baskets instead of the one and these can sync or work separately. The sync option was a suprise to me as once programmed, one basket will “wait” while the other cooks and then turn itself on at a certain point and so both baskets finish at the same time - genius!!

We also have a single zone induction hob for anything that cannot go into the air fryer.

Of course our biggest concern is the power these two appliances will draw. As we are motorboat, we cannot risk running the batteries down! Nor do we want to run the generator all the time.

Our battery situation is…. (you can check out more here)

To prepare for on-board cooking I practiced a lot at home before installing the appliances on the home. Using a power meter, I have recorded the power used for some of the meals we really enjoy and the ones we are likely to cook on the boat.

You can check out the recipes / what I cooked and the data = links above on left. I will continue to update this as I cook more. I will make a special note when Patrick cooks anything (but don’t hold your breath!!
